N@W Study on .EU conflicts
November 16th, 2005Today we completed a study of potential conflicts in .EU. We looked at some major American brands and checked them against the list of already-registered European Community trademarks.
Conclusion? There are a lot of legitimate contenders in the upcoming first-come, first-served Sunrise 1 period. In many cases, it’s not going to be enough to have a trademark, you’re going to have to be first. I’m hoping the study helps generate interest in our premium-queue offering with Pool.com.
The information on the site of EurID, the .EU registry, is tough to wade through, so we also wrote an overview of the .EU rules, covering who can apply, when they can apply, and where they can apply from.
